# Link Lansweeper Classic with Lansweeper Platform

[Lansweeper Platform](/docs/what-is-lansweeper) is the cloud-hosted home for your asset data. When you link your Lansweeper Classic installation to a site, your scanned data syncs to the Platform, where you can work with your inventory alongside the Platform's features.

## Prerequisites

You need an existing, up-to-date Lansweeper Classic installation to link with Lansweeper Platform. If you haven't installed it yet, follow the [installation instructions](/classic/docs/install-lansweeper-on-prem). If you have, [update to the latest version](/classic/docs/update-lansweeper-on-premises) to ensure full compatibility.

## Link with Lansweeper Platform

Once you've set up your installation and scanned your data, you can link it to a site.

1. On the server hosting your Lansweeper Classic installation, open the web console and select **Link with Cloud site**.

Every 12 hours, Lansweeper runs prerequisite checks in the background to confirm your installation can link to a site. For the full list, see [Cloud linking requirements](/classic/docs/cloud-linking-requirements).
2. Select **Link with Cloud site**. If you have multiple scanning servers, select which one syncs with Lansweeper Platform. This server becomes the sync server.

              One sync server per installation

              

You only need one sync server for your entire installation. If any prerequisite checks fail, follow the instructions provided and select **Retry** when you're ready.
3. Enter the email address for your Lansweeper account and select **Confirm**.

If you don't have an account yet, select **Register**. If you aren't logged in, you're redirected to a login page.
4. Select an existing site to link to, or create a new one. Follow the matching section below.

### Create a new site

1. Choose the region where your site's data should be hosted.
2. Enter a **Site URL name**.
3. Select **Get linking code**.

### Link to an existing site

1. In Lansweeper Platform, go to **Discovery** > **Systems** and select **Link discovery system**.
2. Select **Create new code** and choose an expiration time.
3. Select **Apply**.

## Enter the linking code

1. Select **Copy code**.
2. In the Lansweeper Classic web console, paste the code and select **Submit**.
3. After Lansweeper verifies the code, your installation performs an initial sync with the Platform. Depending on how much data is in your installation, this can take a while.
