Discovery hub requirements

Prev Next

Every Network Discovery sensor connects to a hub. The hub holds the sensor configuration, collects the data the sensors gather, and syncs it to your Lansweeper Platform site.

These requirements apply to the hub itself, whichever sensors you install. The sensors have their own requirements: see IT and OT sensor requirements and Traffic sensor requirements.

Connection requirements

The computer running the hub must allow the following outbound connections over TLS 1.2 or higher when linked to your Lansweeper Platform:

URL Port Purpose
https://app.lansweeper.com 443 Login URL for Lansweeper Sites.
https://discovery-gateway.eu.lansweeper.com and https://discovery-gateway.lansweeper.com (EU) https://discovery-gateway.us.lansweeper.com (US) 443 Authenticates and syncs data with your Lansweeper Site.
https://discovery-gateway.cpr.lansweeper.com 443 Checks for new versions to apply auto-updates. Required for every site, whether it runs on EU or US.
https://download.lansweeper.com/ 443 Downloads new versions automatically.
https://app.lansweeper.com/api/scanner-connect 443 Provides connection data to Lansweeper Site for multi-region support.

Hardware requirements

Hub hardware scales with the number of sensors connected to it.

Resource Minimum for up to 2 sensors Recommended for up to 5 sensors Recommended for up to 10 sensors Recommended for up to 100 sensors
CPU x64, 1 GHz single-core x64, quad-core 2 GHz x64, 8-core 2 GHz x64, 8-core 4 GHz
RAM 2 GB, or 4 GB with traffic sensors 16 GB 32 GB 256 GB
Internal net speed 100 Mbps 1 Gbps 1 Gbps 1 Gbps
External net speed (to your site) 20 Mbps 100 Mbps 300 Mbps 300 Mbps
Disk space depends on the sensors you install

Traffic sensors upload capture files to the hub, so they need considerably more hub disk space than IT and OT sensors do. Check the figures on the page for the sensor you're installing: IT and OT sensor requirements or Traffic sensor requirements.

Next steps

  1. Check the requirements for the sensor you want to install: IT and OT sensor requirements or Traffic sensor requirements.
  2. Install the hub and sensor together, on Windows, Linux, or macOS for the IT and OT sensor, or on Linux or Windows for the traffic sensor.
