The ServiceNow component supports managing table records, incidents, attachments, CMDB entries, knowledge articles, and users.

API Documentation

This component was built using the ServiceNow REST API.

Connections

Basic Username/Password

Basic Username and Password connection

ServiceNow supports Basic Authentication using a username and password.

Prerequisites

  • A ServiceNow instance with an active user account
  • The user account must have appropriate roles and permissions for the required API operations

Configure the Connection

  • Username: Enter the ServiceNow account username
  • Password: Enter the ServiceNow account password
Input Comments Default
Username Username
Password Password

OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code

OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow

ServiceNow supports OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code authentication. An OAuth application must be registered in the ServiceNow instance before configuring this connection.

Prerequisites

  • A ServiceNow instance with administrator access
  • Access to System OAuth > Application Registry in the ServiceNow instance

Setup Steps

  1. Log in to the ServiceNow instance as an administrator
  2. Navigate to System OAuth > Application Registry
  3. Click New and select Create an OAuth API endpoint for external clients
  4. Configure the application:
    • Name: Enter a descriptive name
    • Redirect URL: https://oauth2.flowbuilder.eu.lansweeper.com/callback for EU sites or https://oauth2.flowbuilder.us.lansweeper.com/callback for US sites
  5. Save the application
  6. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret from the application record

Configure the Connection

  • Authorize URL: Enter the OAuth authorization URL for the ServiceNow instance (e.g., https://dev12345.service-now.com/oauth_auth.do)
  • Token URL: Enter the OAuth token URL for the ServiceNow instance (e.g., https://dev12345.service-now.com/oauth_token.do)
  • Scopes: Enter space-separated OAuth scopes if required (optional)
  • Client ID: Enter the Client ID from the OAuth application
  • Client Secret: Enter the Client Secret from the OAuth application
Instance-Specific URLs

The Authorize URL and Token URL are specific to each ServiceNow instance. Replace dev12345 with the actual instance name.

This connection uses OAuth 2.0, a common authentication mechanism for integrations.

OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials

OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials flow

ServiceNow supports OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials authentication, which lets an integration authorize as a ServiceNow system (service) account without an interactive user. An OAuth application must be registered in the ServiceNow instance before configuring this connection.

Prerequisites

  • A ServiceNow instance with administrator access
  • Access to System OAuth > Application Registry in the ServiceNow instance
  • An OAuth application that permits the client credentials grant type

Setup Steps

  1. Log in to the ServiceNow instance as an administrator
  2. Navigate to System OAuth > Application Registry
  3. Click New and select Create an OAuth API endpoint for external clients
  4. Configure the application:
    • Name: Enter a descriptive name
  5. Save the application
  6. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret from the application record

Configure the Connection

  • Instance URL: Enter the base URL of the ServiceNow instance (e.g., https://dev12345.service-now.com). The OAuth token URL is derived from it automatically.
  • Client ID: Enter the Client ID from the OAuth application
  • Client Secret: Enter the Client Secret from the OAuth application
  • Scopes: Enter space-separated OAuth scopes if required (optional)
