Access classic reports

Prev Next

Only available for legacy Lansweeper UI users

The classic reports option is only available for customers who have already created reports in the legacy Lansweeper interface. For new users, use dashboards to Visualize your asset data.

If you created reports in the legacy Lansweeper interface, you can continue to access your existing reports in the Lansweeper Platform Experience through the Reports menu. This allows you to view your classic reports while you transition to the Lansweeper Platform Experience.

Classic reports are provided for continuity only and will be deprecated in a future release. We strongly recommend transitioning to Lansweeper Dashboards for real-time insights, interactive visualizations, and a modern analytics experience.

Why switch to dashboards?

Dashboards represent a fundamental improvement over traditional reporting:

Classic Reports

Dashboards

Static query results

Live, real-time data

One report = one table

Multiple widgets (tables, charts, KPIs) on one screen

Separate filter per report variant

Interactive filters — slice data on the fly

Manual query execution

Always up to date, no "Run" button

Hundreds of individual reports

~30 focused, consolidated dashboards

Key advantages:

  • Instant access — Your data is always live; no waiting for query execution.

  • Better visibility — Combine multiple visualizations in a single view to spot trends faster.

  • Unified experience — Analytics live alongside asset management in one interface.

  • Modern data model — Organized around four core domains: Assets, Software, Vulnerabilities, and Users.

Prerequisites & limitations

  • You must have a legacy site that contained reports in the Lansweeper legacy interface.

  • Reports are view only—no creation, deletion, or editing is available.

  • Classic reports will be deprecated in a future release. Plan your migration to dashboards accordingly.

View reports

  1. In your site, go to Reports.

  2. Apply the Category and Subcategory filters as needed.

  3. Select the name of your desired report to be redirected to its results.

FAQs

Will my existing reports stop working?

Not immediately. Your reports remain functional during the transition period. We will provide advance notice before the classic reporting interface is sunset, giving you time to transition to Dashboards.

Why are 400 reports becoming 30 dashboards? Am I losing data?

You're not losing data, you're gaining clarity. Many of those 400 reports were variants of the same query with different filters. A single interactive dashboard with live filters replaces dozens of static reports while giving you more flexibility, not less.

Will every single report have an exact equivalent in Dashboards?

Dashboards are a consolidation, not a one-to-one replica. The vast majority of reporting needs are covered and significantly improved. Some highly specialized legacy queries may not have a direct equivalent, but we're continuously expanding coverage based on customer feedback. If a critical insight is missing, let us know.

Why did the data model change?

We've evolved our data model to be organized around four core IT domains: Assets (what's in your environment), Software (what's installed), Vulnerabilities (what's at risk), and Users (who has access). This structure is purpose-built for fast analytical queries, richer visualizations, and the questions IT teams actually need to answer — rather than reflecting the internal structure of a database.

Why am I being redirected to the old interface when I click a report?

During the transition phase, reports are listed in the new interface for discoverability, but they still execute in the classic engine. As dashboards reach full coverage, the redirect will no longer be necessary.

What if a report I rely on isn't available as a dashboard yet?

You can continue using the classic report during the transition. Additionally, please share your feedback with us — we prioritize dashboard development based on real customer needs. The Lansweeper API is also available for advanced custom data retrieval.

Can I start using Dashboards now?

Yes. The Dashboards section is already available in the new interface. We encourage you to explore pre-built dashboards and start building custom views.
