Custom fields

Custom fields let you add extra data fields to your assets to capture information that Lansweeper doesn't collect by default. There are two types:

  • Basic custom fields: Fields you define and populate manually.
  • Derived fields: Calculated fields that evaluate an expression across your asset data. See About derived fields.

Basic custom fields

Create a custom field

  1. Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.
  2. Select Create a custom field.
  3. Enter the name of the custom field.
  4. Select the Type of custom field. Depending on the type, you may also need to enter Selectable options or Currency.
  5. Enter the Field description.
  6. Select Create.

Edit a custom field

  1. Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.

  2. Select the custom field, then select Show Actions.

  3. Select Edit to revise the custom field's:

    • Name
    • Type
    • Selectable options
    • Field description
  4. Select Save.

Delete a custom field

  1. Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.
  2. Select the custom field, then select Show Actions.
  3. Select Delete.
