Custom fields let you add extra data fields to your assets to capture information that Lansweeper doesn't collect by default. There are two types:
- Basic custom fields: Fields you define and populate manually.
- Derived fields: Calculated fields that evaluate an expression across your asset data. See About derived fields.
Basic custom fields
Create a custom field
- Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.
- Select Create a custom field.
- Enter the name of the custom field.
- Select the Type of custom field. Depending on the type, you may also need to enter Selectable options or Currency.
- Enter the Field description.
- Select Create.
Edit a custom field

Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.

Select the custom field, then select Show Actions.

Select Edit to revise the custom field's:
- Name
- Type
- Selectable options
- Field description

Select Save.
Delete a custom field
- Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.
- Select the custom field, then select Show Actions.
- Select Delete.
